Marylou Vest is a life-long Arlington resident. She first lived in East Arlington on Belknap Street until the age of four, and then moved up to Summer Street in the Heights. Marylou graduated from Arlington High School in 1979 and managed the Chateau Restaurant for many years. Marylou has a wonderful husband and four beautiful boy’s ages 25, 20, 18, and 14. Her 18-year-old son has been sick all of his life; he was diagnosed with childhood cancer when he was four months old. James has been in remission for over a year. Living in Arlington has been a blessing for Marylou, as her community has helped support her family during tough times. More recently she has been unable to work because of double bypass surgery and rheumatoid arthritis. Marylou and her family live in housing provided by HCA, which has allowed them to manage their finances during her son’s sickness. She has decided to give back to HCA by becoming a board member and wants to assist the organization in serving people who need affordable housing or who may be at risk of homelessness.
