Paul Parravano has been part of MIT's Office of the President since 1991. His role in the Office of Government and Community Relations involves fostering communication and understanding between the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and all levels of government, major constituency groups, and MIT's surrounding community. He serves as a liaison and resource for people within MIT who may have a need to work with external parties and those in the community who have a similar need to interact with the Institute. Mr. Parravano serves as MIT's campus federal relations officer, accompanying MIT's President on regular visits to Washington and hosting campus visits by elected officials and other dignitaries.

Prior to his employment at MIT, Paul worked as a staff attorney in a civil rights consulting firm in the Boston area, providing advice and consultation for corporations on the implementation of civil rights regulations. He received his undergraduate degree from Harvard University and a law degree from Northeastern University School of Law. Paul likes to highlight his strong affinity for baseball, barbecue, and water sports. His greatest delight flows from his family, which includes two absolutely splendid daughters, Emily and Eleanora, and his wife Martha. Paul and his family are Arlington residents.

Marc Dohan TreasurerMarc Dohan
Treasurer

Marc has been a resident of Arlington for 9 years, is currently HCA's Board Treasurer, and is active on HCA's finance and executive committees. Marc is the Executive Director at Twin Cities Community Development Corporation and is committed to helping make Arlington a diverse community. He is also involved in Arlington Town Meetings and Arlington Soccer.

 

Gregory Bowe

Gregory been a resident of Arlington since 1999, but has been a friend and visitor of Arlington for 25 years. Greg is a Vice President and Regional Manager at Cambridge Savings Bank, and serves on the bank's Affordable Housing Committee. He is an active member on HCA's membership and finance committees. Greg feels very strongly that one of Arlington's major attractions is its social and economic diversity, and hopes that all of its residents have a stake in promoting that diversity.

Mary DoyleMary Doyle

Mary has lived in Arlington since 1991, and has been an advocate for affordable housing issues for many years. Mary is member of the development committee, and works as the Director of Policy and Program Development at Metropolitan Boston Housing Partnership (MBHP). Mary believes that for people of all income levels, staying healthy, steady employment, good education for children, and just having fun all depends on having stable affordable housing, and is happy to be working on these issues close to home with a wonderfully committed group of people.

Mark LessesMark Lesses

Mark helps buyers and sellers of residential real estate in Arlington and surrounding communities. He has been a licensed real estate broker since 1996 and in 2002 became a Coldwell Banker Vice President. Mark grew up in Cambridge and has a thorough knowledge of many Greater Boston communities including Arlington, Belmont, Cambridge, Lexington, Medford, Somerville and Winchester. Prior to becoming a Realtor, Mark was a residential renovation contractor and is still a licensed builder by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the City of Boston. Mark lives in Arlington with his wife Joanne Lutz.

Mary DoyleTom Nee

Tom Nee has been a resident of Arlington since 1995. Tom has over 16 years of affordable housing experience where he currently works for Caritas Communities Inc. as the Director of Property Management. In his current role he has experience working on projects involving DHCD, HUD, LIHTC, HOME, HIF, HSF, and NSC funding. Tom has his CPM (Certified Property Manager) designation through the Institute for Real Estate Management and is a current member of CHAPA. Tom believes Affordable Housing can be a core foundation for future success and opportunities. Tom and his wife Maureen are the proud parents of three young sons and they continue to discover the unique opportunities that make Arlington special.

Mary Louise VestMarylou Vest

Marylou is a life-long Arlington resident. Marylou graduated from Arlington High School in 1979 and managed the Chateau Restaurant for many years. She has a wonderful husband and four beautiful boys. Her son, James, has been sick all of his life. He was diagnosed with childhood cancer when he was four months old, but is now in remission. Living in Arlington has been a blessing for Marylou, as her community has helped support her family during tough times. More recently she has been unable to work because of double bypass surgery and rheumatoid arthritis. Marylou and her family live in housing provided by HCA, which has allowed them to manage their finances during her son’s sickness. She has decided to give back to HCA by becoming a board member and wants to assist the organization in serving people who need affordable housing or who may be at risk of homelessness.

Debby, a 38 year resident of Arlington, is the Vice President on the Board of Directors and is active on the membership and executive committees. She is a retired French and ESL teacher. Debby became involved in affordable housing work out of concern for maintaining Arlington's rich social and economic diversity.

Jan Blodgett ClerkJan Blodgett
Clerk

Jan, originally from New Jersey, but has also lived in Pennsylvania, Georgia, California and Germany, has called Arlington her home for the past 32 years. Jan is a member of the membership committee. She is currently very active in the First Parish Unitarian-Universalist Church of Arlington, a member of the Arlington Interfaith Partnership on Affordable Housing, and the League of Women Voters. Her past experiences have included participating as a Town meeting member as well as Girl Scout Leader and PTO Committee member. Jan works as a Project Associate for the Family-to-Family Project, and has a strong commitment to involve families that have a stake in the community be more active and participate in helping Arlington to become more affordable.

 

Pamela Baldwin

Pamela has served as Deputy Director of the Harvard Joint Center for Housing Studies since 1997, and has lived in Arlington since 2007. She is delighted to be living in a community where she can walk her daughters to school every day and have the opportunity to work directly on housing advocacy and affordability issues after being involved in housing policy, research and education for so many years. She is active in the Peirce PTO and co-chairs the school fundraising committee. A longtime non-profit manager, at Harvard Pamela oversees the Joint Center's educational and outreach programs, directs external relations and communications activities, and manages resource development, financial administration, grantwriting and grants administration.

Jack CooperJack Cooper

John A. Cooper (AKA Jack) is the Executive Director of the Massachusetts Union of Public Housing Tenants. For over 19 years with the first statewide public housing resident organization in the United States, he has worked with grassroots organizations and public agencies in Massachusetts and Washington DC developing public and affordable housing polices and supportive service planning. Jack also served as a member of the US HUD Operating Rule Making Committee and of the US HUD’s Public and Assisted Housing Training Team, which trained over 5,000 public housing residents and managers on the New Quality Housing and Work Responsibility Act.

Jack currently acts as Vice President of the Citizens Housing and Planning Association (CHAPA), the Commonwealth’s largest research planning and advocacy group for housing and community issues. He also Chair’s CHAPA’s Public Housing Committee, an open committee which has as participants MassNAHRO, Mass Law Reform, local housing authorities, affordable housing consultants, not-for-profit organizations, public housing residents and the Department of Housing of Community Development.

Locally, Jack serves as Vice President of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Committee to raise and donate funds to Arlington High School’s Diversity History Programs. Jack and his family have been Arlington residents since 1984.

Neal MongoldNeal Mongold

Neal has lived in Arlington since 1995. Neal is an architect with The Narrow Gate, a small firm specializing in the design of affordable housing and community based projects. A former President of HCA, Neal currently serves on the development and finance committees. Former affiliations include volunteering at Rosie's Place Homeless Shelter, the Boston Society of Architects Task Force to End Homelessness, and Arlington's Affordable Housing Task Force. A parent of two young boys, Neal strives to keep Arlington a diverse community, affordable to a wide range of families and individuals, and his desire is that people of varying economic and social backgrounds have the opportunity and necessity to interact and understand each other's values, challenges and dreams.

Deirdre Westcott

Deirdre Westcott has lived in housing provided by the Housing Corporation since March, 2008, when she and her husband, an employee of a non-profit organization, were having difficulty finding an affordable, deleaded apartment. Prior to being a stay-at-home mom of two children, she was a financial aid administrator at Boston. Deirdre and her husband are active at the Park Avenue Congregational Church. They are grateful to have the opportunity to live in Arlington and are enjoying its many wonderful parks and events. Deirdre is pleased to be able to serve on HCA’s board and support its mission of providing safe and affordable housing.
